If so you might want to read on …

Can your driver’s licence be suspended if you don’t take action after receiving a traffic fine? The short answer is YES.

This can happen for all types of offences, not just vehicle-related offences. The suspension means you cannot drive in Queensland on any of the following licences:

  • a Queensland driver licence
  • a driver licence issued by any State other than Queensland
  • a restricted licence (e.g. work licence) granted by a court.

The State Penalties Enforcement Register (SPER) administers all fines in Queensland, and by law is permitted to do the following:

All too frequently, Police encounter drivers who do not manage their fine commitments and end up having their driver’s licence suspended. Because SPER communicates regularly with their clients in relation to outstanding fines, it really comes down to laziness if clients allow their license to become suspended. Don’t let this happen to you or someone you know!
